S&P Global Ratings is seeking a Sr. Data Associate, Data Governance Steward to be responsible for managing and administrating the policies and processes of the Reference Data Domain. This individual will be responsible for creating a structure for participation within their data domain, in alignment with the data governance group.  Help define goals, principles, and processed and communication of best practices within data governance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining the data – Identifying key data, gathering definitions, documenting allowable values
  • Be the "Gate Keeper" in maintaining consistency, uniformity and accuracy of all systems within the data domain.

  • Identify and manage the escalation and resolution of data quality issues in a cost-effective and timely fashion.

  • Administer all necessary Create/Read/Update/Delete requests to appropriate reference data, insuring accuracy and completion of information

  • Ensure that all data management standards reflect existing data governance policy

  • Participate in formal project teams and activities concerning Master Data

  • Coordinate flow of information between all departments for responsible master data elements.

  • Respond to and provide appropriate information for all master data related questions and inquiries.

  • Determine and track the root cause(s) for all change requests

  • Support the conflict resolution process through providing data oriented metrics and details

  • Assist in the identification, definition and population of the correct and required data

  • Work independently on regular duties under general supervision, referring questionable cases to supervisor or others.

  • Interact with technical teams to stay involved and abreast of emerging technologies
  • Ensure appropriate stakeholders are involved in new initiatives to obtain needed information, maintaining the highest level of data quality throughout the organization
  • Contribute to establishment (and transformation as needed) standards for data quality, usage, and definitions through tooling and scorecards
  • Participate in project data migration activities through identification of data sources and targets
  • Work with the data solutions project teams to ensure data requirements are met
  • Assist in the development process for projects to ensure customer needs are met
  • Examines data quality, applications, and functions and recommends changes to enhance processes
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills required to work with a diverse, globally dispersed organization, often facilitating contentious or difficult dialogue with mutually successful outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance
  • 7+  years of work experience; 3 to 5 years data management, data governance or data stewardship experience
  • 4+ years in a Data Governance Role..
  • 4+ years in single data domain (Reference Data, Data Governance, Data Quality)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Intermediate skill in database knowledge (SQL queries)
  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting language a plus
  • A working knowledge of GoldenSource is highly desirable
  • Understanding of metadata structure
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced multi-tasking skills and time management skills
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of reference data elements, processes, and organizational support models is preferred
  • Ability to work with a global team.
  • Experience with data profiling as it relates to system usability, quality, and current usage
  • Good analytical skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide solutions
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and timelines
  • Provide project estimates and work-breakdown schedules
  • Responsive, able to work under pressure in crisis with a strong sense of urgency
  • Responsible, conscientious, organized, self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
