S&P Global Ratings is seeking a Data Associate, Data Specialist to be responsible for carrying out data usage and security policies as determined through enterprise data governance initiatives, acting as a liaison between the IT and the business side of the Financial Data Domain (including but not limited to Structured Finance and Fundamental data). This position with data intensive work activity and requires someone who genuinely enjoys working with data and excellent attention to details. We are looking for someone who takes pride in ensuring that data is correct and consistent.



  • Responsible for maintaining consistency, uniformity and accuracy of all systems within Financial data domain.

  • Identify and manage the escalation and resolution of data quality issues in a cost-effective and timely fashion.

  • Ensure that all data management standards reflect existing data governance policy

  • Participate in formal project teams and activities concerning Financial Data

  • Coordinate flow of information between all departments for responsible financial data elements.

  • Determine and track the root cause(s) for all change requests

  • Assist in the identification, definition and population of the correct and required data

  • Work independently on regular duties under general and/or remote supervision, referring questionable cases to supervisor or others.

  • Ensure appropriate stakeholders are involved in all new initiatives to obtain needed information, maintaining the highest level of data quality throughout the organization

  • Interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills required to work with a diverse, globally dispersed organization, often facilitating contentious or difficult dialogue with mutually successful outcomes.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Computer Science

  • 5+  years of work experience; 2 to 3 years data management or data governance

  • A working knowledge of Fundamental data is highly desirable

  • Experience in database tools like Toad, SQL Developer, etc. a plus

  • Intermediate skill in database knowledge (SQL queries)

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills with ability to learn and adapt to new technology.

  • Advanced multi-tasking and time management skills

  • Solid Microsoft Excel skills

  • Experience with data profiling as it relates to system usability, quality, and current usage

  • Responsive, able to work under pressure in crisis with a strong sense of urgency
