JobDescription :

Platts Ocean Intelligence, a unit of S&P Global, is one of the world’s premier marine industry credit information providers, with teams in London, Singapore, Houston, Mumbai and New York.

Platts Ocean Intelligence is looking for a Maritime Analyst for our Singapore office.  Reporting to the Managing Analyst of the team, Analysts research, assess and write time-sensitive, insightful marine credit reports on the commercial operations, fleet, financial standing and creditworthiness of shipping and trading companies.

Most but not all subject companies profiled are privately-owned and often not inclined to provide commercial and financial information.  As a result, market knowledge and a strong industry network (among both suppliers and operators across the business) is vital for assembling these reports.  Clients are bunker suppliers, ship charterers, lawyers, container lessors and others.

Compiling such reports includes: gathering commercial, financial and legal information on target companies from a variety of sources; interviewing decision makers and managers, drawing conclusions, and deciding on a credit assessment score given information gathered.

Prepare presentations and engage directly with clients to present analysis if necessary.  Respond to client requests/inquiries for data and analysis.

There will also be opportunities to write articles for Platts publications such as Bunkerworld, The Barrel Blog and others and eventually to present at conferences.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Effective interviewing skills
  • Strong ability to network, develop and maintain relationships with industry sources among marine fuel suppliers, ship owners and operators, agents, ports, stevedores and others
