Data Researcher, U.S. Public Finance Financial Data Management


The Role:  The Data Researcher performs straightforward, stand-alone tasks for high volume transactions with detailed instructions and predefined procedures, delivering on individual and team targets with quality and excellence. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the collection and management of U.S. Public Finance financial data used for analytical purposes and will ensure data is validated and error free. The position requires data querying, consolidation and analysis, along with preparation of reports, dashboards and presentations to share this information. The successful candidate will be able to leverage their skills to solve existing processing issues and modernize and extend the capabilities of applications and the team.

The Impact: This role has a direct impact on our stakeholders. It serves as the backbone of the S&P Global Ratings process. The role has high visibility within senior management, analytical and operational groups.

Your Skills:

  • Experience with financial data is required, with direct experience with US Public Finance financial statements preferred.

  • Advanced Excel combined with experience with VBA and SQL is necessary. Access and database knowledge is a plus.

  • Data mining skills.

  • Proficiency with figures and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with deadlines.

  • Ability to analyze and solve moderately complex problems in operational processes and show creativity in problem solving e.g. taking a new perspective using existing solutions.

  • Strong influencing, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize in high volume situations and escalate problems when necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience preferred.
