The Role: Business Development/Account Manager 

The Team: Trucost, part of the S&P Global family, operated by S&P Dow Jones Indices a leader in environmental data and risk analysis.

The Impact: This position will support and grow Trucost’s relationships with corporations in the US as well as an emphasis on growing Trucost’s business in Mexico and Latin America. This is a varied role which requires a flexible individual to work independently as well as part of a team.

What’s in it for you: Developing the strategic approach for growing sales in your assigned market areas in collaboration with the global Corporate Business division. Identifying prospects and representing Trucost at meetings and conferences with prospects, effectively recognizing their needs, and conveying Trucost’s value proposition.


• Ownership of a sales target
• Establishing and maintaining client accounts, including following up on new opportunities, setting up meetings, planning and preparing presentations, writing proposals and closing new business.
• Staying up-to-date on market developments effecting your assigned market area and/or sectors
• Managing long-term client relationships to continue to identify new business opportunities
• Working with clients to advise on integration of Trucost data and research in their business strategies and decision-making and supporting them in use of Trucost’s data and tools
• Maintaining accurate pipeline forecasting, reporting and CRM management
• Working with the marketing function, to inform marketing campaigns that align to changing customer needs and market dynamics
• Frequent travel to meet with prospects and customers

What we’re looking for:

Basic Qualifications:

• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Excellent business acumen, negotiation skills, and persuasiveness
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a business development or sales role
• A demonstrable track record in pro-actively delivering against targets
• A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a recognized educational institution
• Good commercial awareness and experience selling to large multinational corporations
• Understanding of corporate environmental sustainability best practices, in particular related to ESG disclosure, carbon risks, supply chain risks, accounting for environmental (carbon, water, etc.) impacts, and business and investment risks and opportunities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confidence presenting to large groups, proposal writing, and enjoy networking and meeting new people
• Be self-motivated and results oriented, with a positive, “can do” attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would have some experience in a number of these areas:

• Solid understanding of core business processes from experiences working within a large corporation
• Good understanding of how sustainability and ESG teams at large corporations operate
• Good understanding of how procurement functions in large organizations
• Knowledge of key environmental issues that companies face including ESG reporting, carbon and water management, sustainable supply chains, and ESG reporting
• Post graduate qualifications such as MS, MSc, or MBA
• Fluency in additional languages will be looked upon favorably
