Communications Manager, London, (S&P Global Ratings)


The Role:  We are currently recruiting for a high-calibre Communications team Manager, based in London. This successful difference-maker must have a strong track record in external communications (generating media coverage, developing journalist relationships and advising senior internal clients, and promoting the company’s product and service offerings) and an equally robust knowledge of the financial markets. You will:


  • Working with S&P Global Ratings analysts and commercial leaders to plan and execute external communications activities to promote the S&P Global Ratings Division’s analytical thought leadership and product and service offerings.
  • Managing all ratings-related media relations activities, including developing relationships with members of the media, drafting messages, coaching spokespeople, organizing events, pitching stories and handling incoming enquiries.
  • Writing press releases and media alerts in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners that promote S&P Global Rating’s intellectual research, products, data, and research to the media.
  • Working closely with the Head of External Communications for S&P Global Ratings to carry out strategic initiatives in the press.
  • Actively engage leading media tracking databases to effectively monitor for significant press coverage and article sentiment.
  • Analyze markets, identify industry trends, and pinpoint developing news stories where S&P Global Ratings’ thought leadership can be proactive positioned.
  • Managing communications initiatives among the wider European communications network, including external agencies.



The Impact: As part of its overall public relations activities, S&P Global is very active in communicating its views on EMEA’s economy, industries and companies to the region’s financial media. It has extensive contact with financial publications, specialist press, news agencies and TV throughout the region, and generates significant media coverage.

The Team / The Business:  The London- and Paris-based Communications dedicated to S&P Global Ratings coordinates media relations and other communications activities throughout EMEA, working with management and analytical teams internally and with a network of communications managers and key influencers across the region.

Your Skills:

  • Proven track record of experience in a communications function (preferably in financial services), whether in-house, for an agency, or in the media, or a combination.
  • Ideally degree educated in media, communications or similar.
  • Effective communications skills (written, verbal and digital).
  • Confidence, enthusiasm and energy – proactive approach to communications.
  • Keen interest in financial markets.
  • Good team-worker, while also being able to take initiative and work independently, with limited support.
  • Fluent English (other European languages would be an advantage).
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
