The Role: Research and analyze trading activity to derive price assessments in physical natural gas or power markets. Engage with market participants to increase market knowledge, develop relationships, and expand Platts’ benchmark assessments.

The Impact: 
Platts price assessments are viewed as essential information by market participants to make informed trading decisions. This candidate is expected to enhance Platts position as a thought leader in the industry through creating actionable content via market commentaries and stories, and engaging with customers through various media outlets (videos, podcasts, conferences, meetings).

Responsibilities:

  • Assess daily and weekly prices for import/export and domestic markets
  • Gather commodity price information, meet compliance standards, produce price assessments, and write , analyses.
  • Assess the value of prices fully in line with S&P Global Platts’ rigorous published methodologies
  • Maintain high quality, timely and real-time feed of news and pricing
  • Work closely with news desk, managers and others to identify news stories on market issues
  • Develop, expand and maintain sources/contacts relevant to the area of coverage
  • Effectively manage and develop price reporting coverage in the region

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Hard worker
  • Organized and able to meet deadlinesExhibits a natural curiosity for the energy industry. 
  • Demonstrates a willingness to continually learn and develop.
  • Track record for delivering against demanding targets and deliverables. 
  • Comfortable with high levels of accountability.
  • Ability to provide insightful analysis to the market in compelling and straightforward content adding value to the product
