S&P Global is seeking a high caliber leader for our Cloud Operations function within the Cloud Services & Enablement organization under S&P Global. The Cloud Operations Manager will be primarily responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of managing Cloud Services function with responsibilities including software deployment and upgrades, system setup, system administration, monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, configuration and change management, service desk, security management and monitoring, capacity planning, availability management, disaster recovery and routine update of services. The Cloud Operations Manager develops processes to manage operations, assists in technical standards development, assists in architecture development, staffing and staff development.


S&P Global has embarked on on migrating applications and workloads to the hybrid cloud. As part of this migration, an operations manager is needed to prover leadership and management responsibilities of day to day operations of the Cloud Services function.

S&P Global is seeking a high caliber leader for our Cloud Operations function within the Cloud Services & Enablement organization under S&P Global.  The Cloud Operations Manager will be primarily responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of managing Cloud Services function with responsibilities including software deployment and upgrades, system setup, system administration, monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, configuration and change management, service desk, security management and monitoring, capacity planning, availability management, disaster recovery and routine update of services. The Cloud Operations Manager develops processes to manage operations, assists in technical standards development, assists in architecture development, staffing and staff development.

This is an excellent opportunity for the candidate to be part of the Cloud Operations leadership team, helping to drive transformation of the current operations function.  The Cloud Services team is looking for a high performance manager with an extensive background leading cloud operations teams on AWS infrastructure at prior companies, strong problem solving skills, a strategic thinker; is adaptable to and drives change through thought leadership, education, communication, partnership and results.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an Global Cloud Operations team delivering services that exceeds 99.9% uptime and providing 24 X 7 operations
  • Develop a culture of operational excellence using industry best practices for change management, release management, incident management, and risk mitigation
  • Partner with platform engineering, monitoring, DevOps, and product development teams to build end-to-end solutions that are resilient and scalable
  • Define and report Key Performance Indicators to monitor process health; define and report Customer facing service metrics
  • Implement System Management Tools to provide monitoring and management of all Cloud infrastructures
  • Develop and oversee Network Operations, Service Desk, Event Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Configuration Management and Change Management Processes for all Cloud Services
  • Implement and oversee Security policy, monitoring, and guidelines for Cloud Services working with Information Security team
  • Conduct System Outage Analysis to prevent the reoccurrence of incidents
  • Constant improvement of all services and processes
  • Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or other related field is preferred for this position, or equivalent experience in ITIL preferred
  • 5+ years of experience leading a 24/7 cloud operations function, deploying and operating complex cloud infrastructure at scale. VMware and AWS experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience in either Application or Platform Engineering and Operations is required
  • 10+ years in IT Service Management, data center, server, and storage management, virtualization, networking, systems management, and/or project management are recommended
  • Deep understanding of cloud concepts such as virtualization, containerization, auto-scaling, CI/CD, automation and building fault-tolerant solutions; Knowledge of ansible, cloudformation, chef or puppet
  • Experience and working knowledge of Linux/Unix, Windows technology stacks.
  • Proven ability to perform in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a strong customer orientation (internal and external).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization.
  • Certifications in ITIL considered a plus
  • Certifications in Linux, VMware, Storage, AWS and other Cloud Technologies a plus
