The primary functions of the Business Continuity Program Director (‘BCM Director’) are to (i) Promote and drive the coordination of the Company’s overall BCM Strategy and its implementation, (ii) 
Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert and senior company  BCM representative, (iii) Drive S&P Global’s enterprise planning of core BCM areas of Business Impact Analysis, Business Recovery Planning (iv) Manage the operational requirements of the BCM Services team including coordination of ITDR Planning,  BCM plan tests & exercises, and  administration of the Company’s core BCM Systems. 

The position has currently three direct SME reports, and in addition will need to facilitate a virtual team of peers throughout the Company to maintain and develop continuity strategies and solutions, including risk assessments, business impact analysis performance, oversee testing and ensure appropriate documentation.  In addition, the BCM Director will act as the Secretariat to the Company’s BCM Program Steering Committee, which consists of senior executive representatives from each Division and corporate functions.    

The ideal candidate should demonstrate deep experience and expertise in Business Continuity Management planning, ideally developed within a regulatory environment such as the FFIEC guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage the company’s strategic approach to BCM and its continuous improvement

  • Act as key representative of the Company’s BCM Program to senior internal and external stakeholders including regulatory authorities

  • Develop and manage a Communication Program that effectively informs and details the company’s BCM Program to the relevant needs and interests of various internal/external stakeholders

  • Ensure that the capability of S&P Global is to continuously ensure the availability of critical operations to  an acceptable, predefined level following a disruptive Business Continuity incident, in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements and expectations

  • Support the work of the S&P Global BCM Program Steering Committee, to ensure it has the relevant technical expert support to execute its role in line, including compliance to BCM internal performance metrics, production of management information and Remedial Actions tracking

  • Support real-time BCM plan activation of major incidents to advise / coach affected Divisions on their response strategies

  • Drive regular updating and testing of the viability of BCM Plans through coordination and engagement of relevant internal stakeholders including Global Security & Crisis Management; Divisional ITDR Teams; Corporate IT Security; Divisional Program Owners and Plan Builders

  • Implement and embed a program to ensure that Business Continuity plans are communicated appropriately and employees are aware of their importance

  • Work with business divisions and functions to coordinate and maintain Business Impact Analysis, Business Recovery Plans to ensure they are fit-for-purpose and in compliance to approved Company SOPs

  • Govern the development of BCM templates that will assist Divisions to effectively develop their BCM plans, in line with an overall integrated BCM Program

  • Ensure that the Business Continuity program of work is kept on schedule and management is aware of upcoming deadlines, audits and reviews

  • Support & oversee stakeholder assurance engagement process where relevant to S&P Global’s BCM Program, including direct engagement with regulators and interested third parties such as corporate customers and insurers  

  • Track compliance with the Company’s BCM Policy across divisions and corporate functions, and engaging stakeholders to redress non-compliance areas

  • Identify and advise on addressing enterprise-wise single points of failure / dependency risk that require a coordinated BCM response strategy

  • Develop and manage a central budget for S&P Global’s BCM Program.  Identify cost-effective BCM solutions across the enterprise that address capability needs of the Company and its divisions, and contribute to the management and coordination of all workplace site recovery contracts  

  • Ensure corporate acquisitions incorporate and adopt S&P Global’s BCM Program and related standards, planning tools and systems

  • Govern the company’s partnerships with its BCM business partners and vendors, supporting the S&P Global’s Vendor Governance program and serving as the Primary Domain Control Partner for BCM (including ITDR)

  • Work closely with Risk Management to identify enterprise-wide risk which would require business continuity management oversight

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, ideally in Technology, Operations or Business Administration
  • Certification in CBCP, DRII, BCI highly desired
  • Experience of managing a BCM Program aligned to ISO 23001 for a large multinational organization
  • 10+ years of experience directly related to Business Continuity Management
  • Experience in a financial services and/or regulated environment highly preferred.
  • Experience of closely working with / within an ITDR planning environment highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly developed program and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills working  with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work in a global team environment, matrixed organizational structure
  • Demonstrated experience in developing people
  • Experience with any Business Continuity planning software highly desired
  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry; regulated industry a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to influence senior and executive management across multiple functional areas to support a BCM Program vision, in a highly collaborative environment a must
