The Role:  As a Lead Solutions Engineer, you will be a Java stack solutions architect for the web operations team, crafting and implementing technology to support our revenue-generating products. In this high-impact role, you would be accountable for projects delivered to business feature releases that require application and infrastructure solutions, integration or consolidation of services.

The Location:  Charlottesville or Richmond VA or Centennial, CO

The Team:  Web Operations caters to the technology and application delivery and operations for the Market Intelligence Product Suite including Capital IQ Platform, Content Collections and XpressFeed to name a few. We provide continuous delivery expertise for product and related infrastructure while striving to ensure full availability of the platform.

  • Design, build and configure system infrastructures in support of web-based/cloud applications

  • Fix and resolve system problems of a complex nature; specifically after changes were made by the solution engineering team such as modifying an existing solution, adding capacity or implementing a new solution

  • Work closely with multi-functional teams comprised of personnel from Infrastructure & Operations, Development, Quality Assurance, and End user communities

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in native and Java based Middleware Application Servers: Weblogic, Apache, NGINX and other servers(like WebSphere, Tomcat and Jboss is a plus) with ability to configure, install and maintain.

  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting & performance tuning of JVM and have solid understanding and analyzing the JVM GC patterns of the system.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to research problems and provide recommendation through analyzing application thread dumps, core dumps, exceptions stack traces & system log files.

  • Strong functional knowledge of and hands-on experience with different flavors of Unix/Linux operating systems.

  • Excellent Linux command line usage & scripting(bash, Perl or python ...) skills.

  • Possess a good work ethic and be willing & available to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to complete work you're leading as well as attend specially scheduled events such as weekend performance tests or major technology upgrades, major releases and client migrations.

  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills

  • Accountability and dedicated focus to solution being engineered

  • Highly motivated and to work in team & deliver without close supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Java/J2EE development experience using Application server technologies: WebLogic/Apache/NGINX/Tomcat.

  • Experience in maintaining Highly scalable, reliable and fault tolerant clustered systems.

  • Solid understanding of infrastructure systems like SAN, NAS, F5, GLB, BIG-IP, Switch, Router.

  • Experience developing automated procedures for systems management

  • Capacity planning, resource utilization and monitoring, trending, and correlation of resource utilization with key system processes and service levels

  • Application performance tuning experience and insight

  • Experience with leading APM tools and solutions like AppDynamics/New Relic/Dynatrace/Moog etc...
