The Role: Risk Product Specialist 


The Location:

  • New York, NY (55 Water Street)


The Team: Credit Product Specialist Team sits within the Commercial Organization serving to qualify new prospects, diagnose solutions and speak to highly technical or niche solutions across S&P Global Market Intelligence’s (MI) suite of credit products, models, tools and data feeds.  The team consists of a small group of experienced credit, sales and relationship management professionals with deep capital markets/fixed income experience.  Credit Product Specialists serve alongside sales and relationship management professionals in a client/prospect-facing role, often leading or guiding the conversation, product demonstration or diagnostic meeting.


The Impact: Global Market Intelligence’s credit products and tools are specialty solutions meant for credit and fixed income professionals.  The target audience and interactions with prospects/clients often occur with seasoned credit professionals, quantitative analysts or others well-versed in the fixed income markets (which includes an array of sectors like Corporates, Financial Institutions, Structured Finance, Public Finance/Governments etc.).  The solutions MI offers can be a core component of the target/prospects workflows, but the challenge is to demonstrate a compelling, relevant use case and clearly identify a ‘reason to buy’.

  • ‘Opportunity for Growth’: As subject matter expert, high degree of independence and autonomy covering the range of credit products; further relatively small team tasked with supporting entire Americas salesforce. 



Assist sales and relationship management professionals in diagnostic and discovery conversations/meetings; perform product demonstrations targeted towards prospect’s role and workflows.

Possesses solid understanding of Global Market Intelligence’s products and technical requirements, as well as, knowledge of competitors’ products and market dynamics.

Uses relevant, real-world industry, product, and client expertise to demonstrate solutions towards complicated client workflow challenges.

Provides product and industry training/mentoring to junior sales executives and relationship managers in area of expertise

Maintain on-going interaction with Product teams, including: market feedback, ad-hoc client outreach initiatives and participation in Go-To-Market training for sales teams. 

Leads pre-sales activities such as responding to RFPs, providing training, or designing SOWs. May also lead post-sales implementation plans, if required in conjunction with other implementation teams.

Significantly impacts the sales and revenue results of the team. Critical to sales and account penetration.

Trains senior sales executives and relationship managers on complex products and industry topics. Ensures that sales teams are knowledgeable and conversant in segment workflow challenges.


What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA, advanced industry certification, or technical degree a plus.
  • 3-5 years relevant industry experience in fixed income capital markets or other credit related markets.  Proven track record in positions involving complex technical sales or relationship management functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Success Metrics + KPIs: ACV-A (New + upsell/cross-sell business)
  • Experience with Diagnostic Sales Approach / ‘Solutions Selling’
  • Experience with specific areas of analytical tools (Credit Model, PD Model Fundamentals, PD Model Market Signals, and Scorecards).
