 Role responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President – Financial Planning & Analysis and Corporate Strategy, and working actively with the executive leadership team of the company, the role will play an integral role in strategy development, refinement, tracking and execution-support for the company. The role will be responsible for leading independent projects focused on identifying, articulating, and supporting the execution of material growth opportunities for the business that will achieve financial impact on a global scale.

A highly motivated candidate will have the opportunity to gain significant business experience, direct contact with senior management, and unique insights into how strategy is developed and executed at a leading global firm. This role must advance an approach that will bring analytically sound, actionable ideas to the business. The size and scope of projects will require extensive interaction with senior leaders across the company.

It is envisioned that the role will position the incumbent to eventually move to a business or finance role. The position will be based in New York City.

  • Lead the Group-wide strategic planning process:

      • Helping to plan and scope work

      • Framing the issues

      • Performing analysis and drawing insight

      • Creating materials to communicate work and conclusions

      • Running meetings and workshops to engage stakeholders and communicate results

  • Work with the Head of Strategy and senior executives to set the objectives and agenda for the annual planning process, Operating Committee offsite meetings, ad hoc strategy sessions

  • Create and drive the meeting schedule to prepare for and get to these sessions – including chairing review meetings and own the group level materials used for strategic agenda items in these meetings

  • Collaborate with Division teams to frame their work and output, provide intellectual leadership, and ensure robust and well-thought through strategies

  • Help prepare for /develop content for Board meetings and Operating Committee meeting

  • Oversee group-level market and competitor intelligence activities

  • Manage 1-2 junior team members

  • The right individual for this role will have and/or be able to develop strong and collaborative relationships with the S&P Global divisions – both with divisional executives and their strategic and finance teams

  • The individual should also have the maturity and presence to interact with the S&P Global CEO and CFO directly

  • Significant learning and growth opportunity – high visibility; critical role for in respect of development and decision-making on the group’s strategies and plans; working with the S&P Global leadership team

  • Candidates with 2+ years prior experience in a strategy development or strategic planning team would be preferred, though it’s not a requirement. Prior would should include some of the following:

    • Running strategy processes involving multiple stakeholders

    • Managing multiple workstreams

    • Running executive workshops

    • Intersection of strategy with financial planning

    • Experience interacting with CXO executives

  • Experience of the following is desirable:

    • Strategy toolkit

    • Broad range of analytical tools and techniques

    • Creation of well-structured and crisp communication materials

  • MBA preferred but not required
