The Role - can be based in one 3 locations: UK (London), US (Denver, Houston) or Singapore. (No relocation).
This senior analyst provides market research and market analysis services across the company relating to Platts customers in the commodity and energy markets. Besides Voice of Customer research, insight skills are required for Platts products, prospect markets and competitive environment. Providing reliable and well researched quantitative based recommendations are essential parts of this role as well as the ability to present and articulate insight in a confident manner.
The unbiased research produced by the senior analyst helps Platts to make sound business decisions utilizing customer attitudinal and behavioural data, combined with market analysis and competitor intelligence. Reports and findings are shared widely across the organisation including the Executive Committee.
The matrix style of working for most of our projects allows team members to work with senior people across the company. The Platts Market Intelligence Team sits within Marketing and our department has recently done a full review of the career opportunity framework that staff can take advantage of while working for us. Once the probationary period is passed there is the opportunity to travel abroad to work on projects, meet with stakeholders and deliver presentations to the different offices and teams. A multitude of techniques and opportunities are made available to staff for furthering their careers – some of these take the form of on the job training, as well as formal courses but do not preclude shadowing, being coached and mentored.
The Team / The Business:
We have a small team where opportunities for collaboration are high but at the same time the ability to work on standalone projects is essential. We are great communicators, like to look at new techniques and methodologies, we are very supportive of each other and feel sufficiently confident in our relationship to critique each other’s work. We will have an intern in the summer to help you with some of the data summaries and online investigative work. Our team currently resides within the Marketing Department.
- College/University degree preferred or educated by experience
- Intermediate market research experience
- Experience managing and working with market research vendors and budget management
- Strong project management abilities (matrix style), ability to multi-task and detailed orientated
- Solid communication skills – writing/ presentations and public speaking
- Insight from data and statistical analysis
- Excellent interpersonal and soft skills
- Tools of the trade: SPSS, Online survey tool and Tableau skills
- Customer centered approach
- Good overall commercial business sense
