Pricing Analyst – Metals  - Platts

 

The Role: Platts is looking for a pricing analyst to develop and advance our metals benchmark agenda in ferrous and non-ferrous markets. Activity will focus in particular on metals benchmarks in the EMEA and Americas regions and on opportunities in emerging metals markets including battery metals.

The Impact: The successful candidate will ideally have experience in developing and driving adoption of commodity benchmark prices and is comfortable in working in a global matrix environment.

The Team/The Business: The successful candidate will be working closely with the global methodology specialist for metals and will overall be part of a global team. The candidate will be considered as a pricing and methodology expert; being a team player and strong communicator are of utmost importance in this role.

Your Skills: Commodity markets experience with knowledge of metals markets desirable but not essential. Proven analytical ability, exceptional energy, tenacity and ambition to excel, strong written and verbal communication skills, analysis and presentation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility will be on working with the metals price reporting teams in EMEA and Americas to defend and grow our portfolio of benchmark prices; strengthening and improving specifications and methodology in consultation with the market and ensuring consistency and best practice in our pricing work.

  • Additionally, the candidate will conduct research, identify specifications and take to launch new assessments in the emerging metals markets, including battery metals.

  • Other responsibilities will include ensuring smooth and timely initiation and execution of pricing projects, regular review and analysis of pricing work across the group, dealing with market queries and staff training.


  Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or similar level university degree

  • Commodity markets experience, with knowledge of metals markets desirable but not essential.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, able to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment

  • Must be comfortable with Microsoft excel and large data sets

  • Self-driven, energetic and proactive

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment
