S&P Global Platts
The Role: The individual will support all editorial teams managing a Market on Close (MOC) window. The MOC window is a process of gathering data that informs Platts price assessments from the market place. In this role you will conduct reviews for participation in the MOC process in the Asia region with a focus on following set process. You will work in conjunction with risk and compliance to ensure that regulatory requirements and industry best practices are met.
The Location: Singapore
The Team: The role is as part of a small global team and responsible for all aspects of Price Group Operations in Asia.
The Impact: The commodity markets surveyed by this team are dynamic within which Platts is a key stakeholder with a robust reputation. This role is a pivotal role in maintaining and promoting Platts reputation across the markets it covers.
What We’re Looking For: You will be required to show keen interest in the markets covered and be able to question and challenge information provided by market participants and sources. You will able to provide the broader editorial team with regular updates on process metrics and governance when needed. You will have enough curiosity and initiative to review information thoroughly to ensure robust familiarity with the providers of information to the MOC process.
You will be responsible for ensuring information on MOC participants residing in the Methodology Tracking Tool and available to front line editorial teams is up to date and accurate.
You will also work closely with the eWindow team (eWindow is electronic software used to manage high volume of bids, offers and trades during price assessment process) to enable constructive and efficient management of information both on participants and the markets being covered.
You will use strong market knowledge, experience and your ability to analyze complex information and follow processes to take responsibility for driving trade performance tracking and dispute resolution as needed.
In addition, you will be required to analyse published pricing data in the Platts editorial database to enable development of nascent MOC windows and methodologies.
Conduct reviews of MOC participation for the region - gathering data and fact checking to check credibility and credit worthiness of entities that wish to provide data for inclusion in the MOC process.
Complete MOC Participation review documentation and ensure strong adherence to review process
Conduct trade performance checking and tracking and keep Head of Price Group Operations informed
Provide metrics as needed
Manage local disputes, in a collaborative manner, where possible and escalate if unable to resolve
Cover for other regional leads as necessary
Strong analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative analysis) and good organizational skills. Tenacity aimed at achieving a solid understanding of the information sourced from the industry.
Broad knowledge of the commodities industry and the competitive landscape from an analyst/operations perspective
Disciplined in following and documenting procedures and reconciling information where necessary
Proven strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Good written and presentations skills
Very good eye for detail and with initiative to recognize priorities and when to escalate issues
Curiosity and tenacity to resolve operational and organizational challenges and issues
