The Role: Associate Editor
The Location: Houston, TX, USA
The Team: The team is responsible for daily publication of Platts Coal Trader, an industry leading publication covering the US thermal coal market. The team writes daily news and analysis as well as conducts daily benchmark price assessments. The US thermal coal team consists of two associate editors and one managing editor, who reports to the global director of coal in London.
The Impact: The role is critical to defending our brand, increasing our relevance in the market, showcasing Platts’ subject matter expertise regarding coal and related commodities such as natural gas and renewable energy, while also ensuring our daily benchmark price assessments are accurate. Your job is to make sense of supply and demand and how it impacts pricing, while also considering the role coal plays in ever-changing domestic and international markets.

- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years journalism experience
- Ability to travel
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Background in commodities journalism or experience in commodities
- Spanish or Portuguese
- Advanced Excel, SQL skills
