The Team: You are part of a global team. Your work in North American electricity markets will be a building block to a global outlook of electricity market trends, analysis, and forecasts. This work will also feed insight into total global energy topics, including oil, natural gas, coal, renewables, and the impact of new technologies.

The Impact: The analyst will collect economic and financial information specific to a commodity market or organization, will conduct market sector or statistical analysis and will interpret key market data elements into useful business information. They will look to leverage their broad scope of knowledge when performing analysis on data sets that may require scripts, codes, languages, etc. The analyst is expected to present results in both written reports and client-facing interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, improve and develop inputs and outputs for subscription reports focused on North American Electricity markets
  • Support team members and collaborate across team boundaries to drive industry leading data, models, and analysis
  • Interact with clients to answer questions and present outlooks
  • Work collaboratively to support the firm’s consulting group

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics, statistics, mathematics, or a similar field, with experience in quantitative analysis and forecasting
  • 0-2 years’ experience in North American electric power industry
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to effectively present forecasts and supporting materials to clients in regular reports, phone calls, emails, and web/live conferences
  • Strong background knowledge in statistics and statistical modeling
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Successful candidates will possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit, be highly self-directed, and be able to work well under tight deadlines
  • Possess a passion for innovation and strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Complex mathematical modeling, including working knowledge of natural language programming, machine learning, or operations research
  • Experience using AuroraXMP modeling software or similar electricity modeling software
  • Experience analyzing Canadian power markets
  • Ability to program in R, Matlab, SQL, or Python
