The Role: As part of the S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Legal team, the Paralegal will assist the business in the review and preparation of various standard form contracts and assist the Department in accelerating the processing of the more routine revenue producing contracts.
The Impact: The Paralegal will be an important resource for the Commercial organization and his/her own team for all contract-related matters in the Asia Pacific Region. He/she will be the driver who works closely with the Commercial organization and the Melbourne-based legal team in contract negotiation.

Manage the negotiation of standard form client contracts (internal use deals, amendments and NDA’s) in response to client comments in a manner consistent with S&P GMI’s policies and procedures relating to the contract process (including Alternative Provisions Dictionary and other internal aides)
Preparing, finalizing and summarizing execution ready originals of such contracts. Escalate to Senior Director as appropriate
Strong knowledge of standard form contracts and relation to S&P GMI’s product offerings. Ability to assist Sales with identifying the appropriate contract forms on an ongoing basis and conduct related training via WebEx on an as needed basis
This person will assist the Department in accelerating the processing of the more routine revenue producing contracts
Skilled use of SFDC and contracts tool within (create-a-contract)
Review and translate PRC-based client comments on contracts and negotiate directly with the client with varying levels of involvement from the Senior Director depending on complexity of comments
Recent law school graduate or university graduate who has been closely involved with contracts involving licensing of IP-related products and software for 3-5 years
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills. Work cooperatively with business managers and sales staff
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Fluent in Mandarin (required) as you will need to review and translate PRC-based client comments on contracts and negotiate directly with the client . (All candidates will undergo an informal Mandarin language test involving conversing with the PRC-based sales team)
Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as familiarity with a contract database-type system
Ability to work independently and show initiative
Ability to work under pressure and to manage the expectations of clients and sales people
