The Role: Associate Director, Finance

Location: New York, New York

The Impact: You are part of the Market Intelligence Global Financial Reporting and Controllership team providing monthly reporting and analysis on financial performance across Revenue, Expense, EBITA and Balance Sheet. You are responsible for leading the monthly accounting close process for Market Intelligence working with the MI Finance team to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial results. In additional, you are preparing monthly reporting for review by Senior Finance and Business Leadership to include various views (As Reported, Organic) to meet business needs and drive decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Running the monthly variance analysis and working with MI Finance team to complete variance explanations on actual and historical results compared to budget and prior year for onward reporting to S&P Global Corporate Accounting group and Finance leadership to include both P&L and Balance Sheet variance.
  • Responding to both internal and external audit queries and ensuring full compliance internal controls (SOX) providing evidence as required.
  • Building of presentations including Quarterly Financial Review, Quarterly Business Review and Board of Director meetings. Ensuring the completeness and integrity of the externally reported financial information.
  • Project work with particular emphasis around operational improvement embracing LEAN principles, employing best practices and ensuring Finance tasks are correctly assigned across the SPGI Finance team.
  • Handling any GL and TM1 maintenance for the MI division to ensure full alignment to Corporate requirements and clear reporting structures are maintained that meet both Finance & Business needs without compromising historical or future reporting requirements.
  • This role has 2 direct reports at Manager level, 1 is New York based and another in London.

What We're Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or fully qualified accountant with 2-4 years’ proven accounting and financial analysis experience of working in a Global Finance organization operating within a matrix business structure.
  • Experience with ERP (Oracle Financials) and Cognos TM1 is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in MS Excel (pivot tables, V-lookups) and PowerPoint (ThinkCell an advantage).
  • Solid analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a multi-locational team with challenging, often conflicting deadlines
