The Role:
S&P Global is seeking a Research Assistant to join its Structured Finance Ratings group as a member of the ABS and RMBS practice. The practice provides credit ratings of structured products that are backed by pools of assets, which may include auto loans, credit card receivables, student loans, or residential mortgages.


Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant will support senior analysts by building cash flow models and conducting cash flow analyses to stress test the structures and enhancement levels under various economic scenarios, as follows:
• Gain familiarity with ratings criteria and cash flow analysis of asset-backed securities.
• Create cash flow models for ABS issuers across standard asset classes.
• Perform cash flow analysis and synthesize results in a timely manner for new issue ratings and surveillance committees.
• Read legal and operating documents and extract relevant information for cash flow and structure analysis.
• Prepare presentation materials for ratings committees.
• Respond to questions from internal parties on analytical assignments and may participate in calls with external parties.
• Maintain model libraries and databases for ratings surveillance.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a quantitative discipline (3.6 GPA or higher) such as finance, computer science, economics or engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
• One to two years of work experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of and comfort with Excel and financial data.
• Familiarity with programming languages or statistical packages (e.g. C++, Python, or VBA) is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.
• Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines under time pressure.
• Diligent and intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
