Join a dynamic in-house legal team within S&P Global Ratings, renowned for its collaborative and supportive culture. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional legal counsel that supports our Ratings analysts across all practices, but primarily on structured finance and project finance transactions across Europe. Responsibilities and Impact:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of transaction-level legal structures and related legal opinions, ensuring adherence to S&P Global Ratings’ legal criteria.
- Provide expert legal counseling to Ratings analysts on emerging legal issues in structured and project finance.
- Analyze and interpret relevant laws and regulations, keeping analysts informed on legal developments that impact their analysis.
- Counsel Compliance, Risk, and other control functions on compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Prepare and conduct internal legal training sessions for ratings analysts.
- Review and revise legal-related criteria as requested by analysts.
- Offer general legal counseling and participate in ad-hoc projects supporting S&P Global Ratings’ business activities.
- Counsel S&P Global Ratings’ personnel on external engagements, presentations, and publications.
- Lead highly visible multidisciplinary project teams or initiatives, influencing stakeholders internally and externally to support key initiatives.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Admitted to practice law in a relevant European jurisdiction; candidates from other jurisdictions with relevant experience will also be considered.
- An S&P Global Employee at this level would typically have a minimum of six (6) years’ post-qualification experience in structured finance and/or project finance as a lawyer in a major law firm or corporation.
- Experience drafting and/or reviewing ISDA derivative documentation.
- Familiarity with cross-border/conflicts of law issues in structured finance and/or project finance transactions.
- An understanding of the varied role of key participants in structured finance and/or project finance transactions
- Ability to quickly grasp complex legal and analytical concepts, applying sound legal judgment with minimal supervision, including with respect to innovative structures and/or transactions in new and untested jurisdictions.
- Well-developed emotional intelligence; superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to assess and respond appropriately to emotionally challenging situations.
- Self-motivated and well-organized with the ability to handle multiple, high-priority projects while attending to details; able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
- Hands-on, energetic, intellectually curious
- Professional and collegial demeanor, a team player, ability to work effectively and collaboratively with in-house colleagues, internal stakeholders and external parties
- Excellent presentation, writing, and analytical skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrates strategic thinking and identifies opportunities for growth and innovation, influencing multiple teams to contribute.
- Familiarity with S&P Global Ratings’ legal criteria for structured finance transactions and/or S&P Global Ratings’ criteria for project finance transactions
